Columbia County Fair is on for September
Natasha Vaughn is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Columbia County Fair is officially on for September. The county Agricultural Society June 7, unanimously agreed to hold the annual event this year. The 2020 fair was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “For this year’s fair, there are going to be some changes, obviously with meeting the state mandates and everything,” Columbia County Agricultural Society Director Betsy Braley said. “So there are some things that are going to be different but there are also going to be a lot of the favorites that people love, like the racing pigs, and the zoo, the animals, the food.” The fair will take place from September 1 through 6 at the county fairgrounds in Chatham. The current state guidelines call for masks to be worn by unvaccinated people, but those guidelines could change as the fair date approaches. Much of the planning has been done in recent months, Fair Manager Angelo Nero said, but entertainment for this year’s fair is not fully scheduled right now. The fair normally does not finalize plans until August 1, he said. There is currently no limit to the number of people who will be allowed to attend the fair each day. This year, no smoking will be allowed inside the fairgrounds, Braley said. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
