HHA throws out building plan

Jul 30, 2019 12:45 pm
Jeanette Wolfberg is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Hudson Housing Authority has scrapped a plan to build two four-story residential units with retail space on State Street in the city's Second Ward. “The project as presented is not going to be built,” said Alan Weaver, Chair of the HHA Board of Commissioners. Weaver made the announcement as he canceled the board’s July 10 meeting due to a lack of quorum. He said the board would issue a request for proposals “to potential partners for a new project,” but that the new project is not yet definite enough to reveal. The original project and a financing plan were scheduled for a June closing when in February the board announced the proposal was undergoing reevaluation. The agenda for the canceled July 10 meeting included voiding the existing RFP award and reviewing a draft for a new request. The board was also scheduled to discuss the proposed construction of Verizon cell-phone towers on the roof of the Bliss high rise and the conversation of the HHA from public housing to a public/private partnership. The topics will be taken up when the board of commissioners next meets, Wed., Sep. 11. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
