Upstate jobs have not rebounded

Matthew Hamilton reports in Capitol Confidential that upstate employment rose by just 0.3 since 2009, while it has grown by 2.2 percent in the Capitol Region between mid-2009 and June 2016, according to a report released Aug. 26 by the state comptroller. “On the surface, New York’s economy has rebounded from the Great Recession,” New York Comptroller Tom DiNapoli said in a statement with the report. “But it should come as no surprise that a closer look reveals pockets of the state still have a long way to go to catch up.” The upper Hudson Valley lost 1,700 jobs in the time period according to the report.
