County proposes $100K upgrade for building

Kyle Adams is reporting in The Daily Mail Greene County is moving forward with a $300,000 improvement plan for the Greene County Mental Health building located in Cairo. Approximately $100,000 in upgrades to the building’s safety and security infrastructure were approved by the Public Safety Committee of the Greene County Legislature Wed., Sept. 4. The building dates to the 1880s and currently houses the offices of Greene County Mental Health and its outpatient treatment center, the Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Greene County Child Advocacy Center. The funds approved by the Public Safety Committee would be allocated for metal detectors, a telephone system upgrade, the redesign of the front door and entry and additional part-time security personnel. An added $200,000 in improvements will go before the committee in a separate resolution next week. NOTE: Public Safety Committee Chairman William Lawrence is a WGXC programmer.
