Chatham approves town budget; taxes up

Karrie Allen reports in the Register Star the Chatham Town Board has approved the town's 2013 budget, totaling $3.6 million, along with a requisite tax increase of 4.85 percent. The board was looking at an anticipated tax increase of 29 percent when budget talks began. Projects for the upcoming year include the replacement of a fleet of 10 new vehicles for the town highway department and a rebuild of the pavilion at Crellin Park. The town intends to borrow a total of $1.5 million to cover the cost of those two projects. Read the full story in the Register Star.
