Germantown buys backup generators

Debby Mayer reports in The Columbia Paper that the Germantown town board unanimously approved the purchase of generators for Town Hall ($36,000) and the highway garage ($22,000) from SKJ Electric in Germantown at the Aug. 15 meeting. Last summer during a heat wave, the town hall was used as a cooling space. But the portable generators the town moved into place for the heat wave are at the end of their lifetime. The board also board also approved spending $11,500 with Stilsing Electric in Rensselaer to connect the new streetlights in the hamlet. The Germantown board also set a public hearing about the Comprehensive Plan update for 6 p.m., Tue., Oct. 3. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
