May 09, 2012 6:12 am
The Columbia County Board of Supervisors may vote on the purchase of the building located at 25 Railroad Ave. (Hudson), Wed., May 9, according to account written by John Mason, in the Register Star. The 28,000 sq. ft. building is owned by Anthony Concra has housed the county Department of Social Services since 1991. The board's nine-member Special Negotiations Subcommittee will meet prior to the meeting of the full board to decide if the matter will move forward for a vote. Objections to the purchase have been raised based on environmental concerns. From the 1940s to the mid-1980s, the property was a fuel storage depot, and at some point was the site of a petroleum spill reported in 1992, Mason writes. There is currently an indoor air quality monitoring system in place in the building. Read the full story in the Register Star.
