Durham budget goes over the tax cap
Nov 28, 2017 3:15 pm
Audrey Matott reports in The Greenville Pioneer that Durham's 2018 town budget exceeds the Real Property Tax Cap by two percent. The Durham town board unanimously adopted the budget at a Nov. 16 town workshop meeting. Rising costs for Durham Ambulance were cited for the budget going over the cap. Board members Jerry Cunningham and Nick Nahas met with representatives from GlaskoSmithKline, a large business in Durham that has previously helped the town, about aiding the budget gap. Cunningham said the representatives he met could not make the decision, but said he was confident the business would help some, just not in time for the 2018 budget.
