Democrats outraising Republicans in State Senate campaigns

David Lombardo reports in the Albany Times Union that the last time the state Democratic Senate Campaign Committee outraised the state Senate Republican Campaign Committee, was also the last time Democrats held the chamber, in 2010. The story reports that many Democratic candidates in contested Senate seats also raised more than their Republican opponents over the past two months. Republicans currently hold the State Senate with a one-seat majority. Senate Democrats raised $656,769 while $296,850 was contributed to the Senate Republicans, over the past two months. Kingston business owner Pat Strong, a Democrat, is challenging incumbent Republican George Amedore in the 46th state Senate District that includes all of Greene and Montgomery counties, and parts of Albany, Schenectady and Ulster counties.
