Feb 05, 2019 2:15 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting a Columbia County Sheriff’s deputy is being credited with saving the life of a person who went into cardiac arrest on the campus of Columbia-Greene Community College last year. Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Wayne Lopez said that when Deputy Patrick Mayo found the person unresponsive and not breathing, he began cardiopulmonary resuscitation before the person was transported to a hospital. That person, whose name was not provided, has since made a full recovery. Mayo was presented with the Life Saving Award on Feb. 1 by Sheriff David Bartlett for his “prompt and alert action.” Mayo is a Claverack resident and has been with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office since 2013.
