Press conference from Tonko at Albany Jewish Community Center disrupted by bomb threat
Robert Gavin reports in the Times Union that a press conference with Rep. Paul Tonko and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries at the Jewish Community Center in Albany Oct. 11 was disrupted by a bomb threat. Instead of the two politicians discussing federal spending and day care the building was evacuated and police urged people to stay away from the area. Police did not release many details on the bomb threat. The Jewish Community Center was targeted with threats in early 2020, when a number of Jewish Community Centers across the country also received threats. The same thing happened in 2017, when the Albany center was one of 54 such facilities in the U.S. that also received phoned-in bomb threats that were all hoaxes.
