Teachout to run for AG if James runs for governor

Nick Reisman is reporting for State of Politics law professor and failed gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout announced October 2, she will run for state attorney general if current Attorney General Letitia James launches a campaign for New York state governor in 2022. Teachout confirmed her plans first to the Times Union and later on Twitter. Teachout challenged then-incumbent Andrew Cuomo in the 2014 Democratic primary. In 2016, she ran unsuccessfully for the 19th Congressional District seat against Republican John Faso. And in 2018, she was a candidate for attorney general after the office was vacated by Eric Schneiderman, who resigned amid allegations of sexual abuse.
