Jul 16, 2020 5:30 am

Trump's attorney William Consovoy said his client also intends to press for details on the scope of the investigation currently underway. The SCOTUS decision last week unanimously rejected Trump’s claim of absolute immunity from criminal prosecution as well as related subpoenas in state and local courts, but his lawyers said that going forward they are entitled to argue that the demand was too broad, that it was “motivated by a desire to harass,” that it was intended to retaliate against him for policy decisions, and that compliance would interfere with the president’s official duties. “The President intends to raise some or all of these arguments in his forthcoming Second Amended Complaint,” his legal team said. Trump has agreed to file his updated lawsuit by July 27 and the Manhattan District Attorney's Office will hold off on trying to enforce the subpoena. Read the full story at politico [dot] com.
