Jeanette Wolfberg reports in The Columbia Paper that the Hudson School Board appointed Lucinda “Lucy” Segar on Dec. 18 to fill a vacancy. Segar lives in the district, but teaches 12th grade English in Catskill. Before that she taught at Kite’s Nest in Hudson. “I want to contribute to my community, while finding out how school boards work,” she said. “It will be a learning experience.” Segar studied writing at Columbia University, and education at Bard. She has also taught at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She is the second teacher on the board, with Linda Hopkins teaching at Taconic Hills. The Hudson School Board meets next at 6:30 p.m. January 8 at the Hudson High School. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
