Local art is today's theme. From people’s shopping habits to their attendance at political protests, private companies and governments are increasingly using surveillance technologies to track individuals and their data, often without the consent or knowledge of the person being watched and followed. WOOC's Natalie Meltzer speaks with Bonnie Fan, a member of coveillance, a collective which uses art, technology, and design to empower people to notice and counter surveillance in their daily lives. 120 degree Intercollegiate Regional is one of the two exhibitions currently on view and open to the public at The Arts Center of the Capital Region. HMM’s Sina Basila Hickey spoke with Belinda Colón, Curator at the Arts Center, to learn more about the regional and its importance to regional collegiate artists. And tune in new local music from Florist, Jen Kutler, Joe McPhee, and Sky Furrows. Plus, The COVID Report from The River Newsroom is featured, with local pandemic news.
The show features local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, a rundown of local and regional events, weather updates, and more about and for the community. The show is a place for a community conversation about issues, with music, and more. Saturday the emphasis is more on radio art, and art on the radio. Unlike shows by individual programmers on the station, the "WGXC Afternoon Show" is considered partially station-run. The Wednesday show calls itself the "Drive-Time Show" and Sunday's is "Li Le, Le Tan."
