What is Music?

Hosted by Sheri Bauer-Mayorga
"What is Music?" is a program for families. Every show we'll collect viewpoints of every kind as a way to answer the question, "What Is Music?" (which we hope to never answer completely!). We'll meet up with anyone who has anything at all to do with music: students, teachers, composers, singers, luthiers, piano tuners, piano movers, etc.

Each week will have a special focus, such as "the Voice" or "the Violin." We'll hunt around town for our show's "featured focus," discover how it lives in the world, and what place it has in the lives of children. Each show will end with a a few new songs, one of which will be taught over the air! Once the show is rolling, guest children co-hosts will join us in the studio.

Sheri Bauer-Mayorga is the director of the Cross River Youth Chorale at the Hudson Opera House. She has taught chorus and traditional song classes for children in the area for a number of years, and was once a child herself in Greene County where she first learned piano in order to accompany her grandfather's chorus. Sheri also performs as jazz singer with the Berkshire Bop Society and as a core singer for Albany Pro Musica.
