Central Hudson warns of new phone scam

Jul 11, 2019 11:45 am
The Daily Freeman is reporting Central Hudson is warning its customers about a new telephone scam. The scheme involves a false threat to disconnect the customer's utility services unless a payment is made using a prepaid debit card. Central Hudson is warning customers that the calls appear to be from Central Hudson, and use the utility's caller ID phone number. But the company says it never requests a payment in this way and warns customers to be on the look out against such scams. If a customer is ever in doubt about any contact via phone, online, or in-person, they should call Central Hudson at (845) 452-2700. They are also advised to note any caller ID information, email addresses or license plate numbers, and report that information to local police. Central Hudson reminds the public that its employees and authorized contractors always drive marked vehicles and carry photo identification. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
