Aetna-CVS merger approved

Bethany Bump is reporting for the Times Union the New York Department of Financial Services announced November 26, it has approved CVS Health's application to acquire Aetna. The approval was the final step in the $69 billion merger of the nation's largest chain of pharmacies and the health insurer. The companies said the deal is expected to close by November 28. The state's approval is subject to a number of conditions that both Aetna and CVS have signed off on, including enhanced consumer and health insurance rate protections, privacy controls and cybersecurity compliance. There is also a $40 million commitment to support health insurance education and enrollment and other consumer health protections. Read the full story in the Times Union.
