Schneiderman joins other AGs to call for coverage of non-opioid painkillers

Claire Hughes is reporting at Capitol Confidential New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has joined 36 other state attorneys general in urging the industry to examine coverage policies that favor prescribing opioid medications over other less addictive painkillers. The Sept. 18 letter comes on the heels of a report from The New York Times and ProPublica, showing that health insurance policies limit access to painkillers that carry a lower risk of addiction because they are more expensive than opioids.
