Apr 15, 2016 6:45 am

John Mason is reporting in the Register-Star Hudson Mayor Tiffany Martin Hamilton announced Thu., Apr. 14, funds have been secured to rebuild the Ferry Street Bridge. The city will receive a total of nearly $2 million over four years for the project, beginning with an initial award of $250,000 in October, for preliminary design, right of way and incidentals, and final design work. The funding was secured with the assistance of the Columbia County Transportation Advisory Committee through the New York State Department of Transportation's Region 8 office, according to a written statement from Hamilton. Based on the DOT timeline, the project will be completed in 2020. The two-lane, asphalt-paved bridge spans the CSX tracks in the city's waterfront district. It is one of two routes to Henry Hudson Riverfront Park and the state boat launch. The bridge has been closed to motor vehicle traffic for nearly a year. Read the full story in the Register-Star.
