WHEC-TV is reporting State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has announced the property tax levy will be capped at 1.81 percent this year, a decrease from 2 percent in effect for the last two years. DiNapoli lowered the potential increase based on a lower rate of inflation. School districts can still override the tax cap with 60 percent voter approval.
