Nassau supervisor staying out of state Senate race

David Lombardo is reporting for Capitol Confidential Republican David Fleming will not be a candidate in the upcoming race to replace retiring state Sen. Kathy Marchione. “At this time, a run for the New York State Senate would not allow me to honor family and personal commitments,” he said. “Regardless, I will continue in my efforts to be a strong voice for those I’m honored to represent and to provide a voice for those that need representation.” Moving forward, Fleming said he remains committed to fighting for clean water, stronger schools, the preservation of farms and the rights of sportsmen. Marchione announced April 26 she will not seek re-election in November. According to Lombardo, Republicans are hoping the party’s candidate can be decided without a primary.
