State Republicans outraise Democrats

Kenneth Lovett reports in The New York Daily News that the New York Republican party outraised the state Democrat party in 2017 by almost $800,000. Republicans raised $1.9 million in contributions in 2017, with $756,000 from individuals. The state Democrats raised $1.15 million, with $91,000 from individuals. Republicans have announced no statewide candidates for 2018, but state GOP spokesperson Jessica Proud said the fundraising advantage, “positions us well for our congressional battles this year.” Democrats in state government including Governor Andrew Cuomo are up for re-election this year, while several Republicans in Congress, including Kinderhook's John Faso, are in races deemed toss-ups according to most political analysts.
