Emilia Teasdale reports in the Columbia Paper that the Dutch Inn in Kinderhook may not be shuttered much longer. Jennifer Ose-MacDonald and Jake Samascott were before the Kinderhook Village Planning Board June 6, with plans for a new restaurant in the basement and first floor of the building, and lodging above. Village Mayor Jim Dunham explained that part of the reason the Dutch Inn closed year ago was the lack of a sewer system. A 2012 grant funded a sewer system for the business district, so there is now a sewer line for the Dutch Inn property to connect to. Parking was the major concern of neighbors about the reopening of a business in the building. "Village Planning Board member Bruce Charbonneau asked the meeting audience of more than 40 people to raise their hands if they supported the Three Sisters/Dutch Inn application; the vast majority of the room did so," Teasdale writes.
