Olana awarded grant for trailhead entrance design
Aug 19, 2020 3:00 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting the Olana Partnership has received a $14,400 matching grant from the Environmental Protection Fund's Park and Trail Partnership Grants program to help fund the design of a trailhead for pedestrians. The grant was one of 29 awards, totaling $900,000, for organizations dedicated to the stewardship and promotion of the state's parks, historic sites, trails and public lands. The North Road served as the main entrance to Olana until the site became an historic site in 1966. A trailhead was established there in 2015 and the opening of the Hudson River Skywalk made it a pedestrian entry point last year. The trailhead design will create a more visible, accessible and attractive entrance to Olana and combine the Hudson River Skywalk with the site's historic carriage road network.
