Tkaczyk proposes dairy farmer support bill

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail state Sen. Cecilia Tkaczyk has introduced legislation to help the state’s dairy farmers improve energy efficiency. The bill, announced last week, would provide grants and low-interest loans to help dairy farmers invest in renewable technologies like solar and wind. Tkaczyk said in a statement, Fri., May 31, “Investing in energy efficient upgrades can help dairy farmers reduce their costs as well as their carbon footprint." In New York, dairy is an $8.9 billion business, generating more than $400 million in annual wages statewide. Greene County currently has nine active dairy farms. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
