Columbia Co. GOP elections commissioner files complaint against Dems

Natasha Vaughn is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Columbia County Republican Elections Commissioner Kelly Miller-Simmons September 30 issued a press release announcing that she has filed a complaint with state and federal authorities against the Columbia County Democratic Committee. In that complaint, Miller-Simmons is alleging the Democrats misused the mail and fraudulently misrepresented an absentee mailing, making it look like it came from the county board of elections. Miller-Simmons said she received complaints and phone calls from voters about the mail. She said the envelope in question was an envelope addressed to Democratic voters with a return address for the Columbia County Board of Elections. According to Miller-Simmons, the mail used the “Official Election Mail Authorized by the US Postal Service” indicia authorized for official election mail only. The packet contained a pre-filled state of New York absentee ballot application with a return envelope to the county board of elections. “I want to alert all voters this is not from the Columbia County Board of Elections,” Miller-Simmons said. “This is not official election mail from an official government source.
