Oct 23, 2019 2:45 pm
The Times Union is reporting an investigation is underway by police and school officials in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school district after someone scrawled a hateful message on a bathroom wall at the high school. The graffiti ridicules Jews, African-Americans and homosexuals. It features a swastika and repeated references to Hitler. According to a statement released by the district, "On October 22, the RCS High School was alerted to hate-filled vandalism that was left on a bathroom wall. School officials are aware of the incident and are working with faculty and law enforcement to identify the suspect(s)." The district said school assemblies for all high school students and staff will be held the morning of Thu., Oct. 24. The Ravena News-Herald reported October 21 that a number of bullets were discovered that afternoon in a second-grade classroom at Pieter B. Caymans Elementary School, another school in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk school district. Administrators immediately notified local law enforcement of the discovery. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office removed the bullets and remained on school grounds to investigate and monitor dismissal. https://ravenanews.com/bullets-found-at-pieter-b-coeymans-p975-188.htm
