Former Columbia Co. Treasurer Ken Wilber has passed away

Columbia-Greene Media is reporting former Columbia County Treasurer and Ghent Town Supervisor Kenneth H. Wilber passed away October 27, following a long illness. Wilber served on the Ghent Town Board from 1980 to 1981 and as town supervisor from 1982 to 1993. In 1996, he was elected Columbia County Treasurer, and served in that position until his retirement in 2011. Before being elected treasurer, Wilber was employed for 30 years at the Columbia Corporation in Chatham. He was the former vice chairman of Columbia County Republican Committee. Wilber was born in 1946 in Hudson, graduated from Chatham High School and Albany Business College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in October 1971. Wilber was a third-generation member of the Ghent Marching and Concert Band, a life member of the Ghent Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5933, and the Ghent Volunteer Fire Company.
