Cairo zoning law to be amended

Jim Planck is reporting in The Daily Mail the Cairo Town Board will now meet twice a month, effective May 16. Officially designated as workshop sessions, the second meeting will be used as a forum for the town zoning committee to meet, at least for now. Cairo Town Supervisor Daniel Benoit said the zoning committee will use that meeting time to rework the existing zoning law into a version more suitable for Cairo. “There was a substantial amount of objection to our zoning in the form it was being passed,” he said. “It was too much, too quickly, for too small a town,” said Benoit. He said the deadline for the rewrite is September, time enough to vote on the amended law by the end of the year. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
