Coxsackie zoning vote now Thursday

Jan 08, 2018 3:27 pm
A Village of Coxsackie vote on a zoning law that might spark a lawsuit will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 11, rather than Jan. 8. Local Law No. 6 of 2017 would repeal Local Law No. 4 of 2008 and replace Chapter 87 of the Village Code of the Village of Coxsackie in its entirety, and would limit the amount of manufactured and modular homes homes per area. Sam Landy of UMH Properties said in a Jan. 5 interview on WGXC that his company would file an Article 78 lawsuit against the village if the law passes. He claims the law is aimed at his proposal to build 160 homes on 64 acres in the village. In an Oct. 11 story in Columbia-Greene Media, Coxsackie Village Mayor Mark Evans claimed that the law has nothing directly to do with UMH, but “it could affect them.”
