Greene County woman and her company admit to defrauding customers

Jul 25, 2018 7:00 am

The Daily Freeman is reporting Albany Environmental Consultants LLC owner Ronda M. Dolan, 51, of Earlton, and project manager Brian K. McLaren, 54, of Troy have pleaded guilty to defrauding customers into believing the firm was licensed to test for asbestos, according to a statement released July 24, by the state Attorney General's Office. Although the company’s license expired four years ago, unsuspecting customers paid nearly $40,000 to Dolan and McLaren for asbestos-handling services. Those customers eventually had to have the work redone by a licensed company. According to prosecutors, the company had a state asbestos-remediation license until August 2014. After the license expired, the defendants forged their letterhead by using the license number of a legitimately licensed company. They operated the unlicensed company through at least January 2015 and took on at least 19 jobs in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Washington, Montgomery and Westchester counties.
