Deadlines for voting this fall approaching
This year's general election in New York begins Oct. 29 and ends Nov. 8. Oct. 14 is the last day to register to vote, and to postmark an application to vote in the general election. Those mailed-in applications to vote must also be received by the board of elections by Oct. 19. Anyone honorably discharged from the military or who became a naturalized citizen after October 14, may register in-person at their county board of elections office up until October 29. Applications to vote by absentee ballot must be received by mail by Oct. 24, although military absentee ballot applications are accepted through Oct. 29. Anyone can apply for an absentee ballot in person through Nov. 7. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 8 and received by the county board of elections no later than Nov. 15.
