Ambit Energy to refund nearly $1M to customers

Mike McAndrew is reporting in the Post-Standard Ambit Energy has agreed to refund nearly $1 million to more than 1,500 customers to resolve complaints about the company's billing practices. Ambit is one of the state's largest independent suppliers of electricity and gas for residential customers. The settlement followed an investigation by the state Department of Public Service's consumer advocate. Most of the money will be paid to 774 Ambit customers in central and eastern New York, according to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's office. Most of those refunds will go to upstate customers who live in counties where National Grid provides electric and gas service. Ambit is based in Dallas, Texas.
