Hannaford shrinks hours, but adds time for seniors
Mar 20, 2020 12:03 am
The Times Union reports that Hannaford Supermarkets are the latest retailer to shorten their hours, and adding an hour just for senior shopping. Hannaford announced March 19 that it will open from 6 to 7 a.m. for seniors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. All week the stores will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. for everyone else. "Providing a designated shopping period for seniors and at-risk individuals allows this population to shop prior to other customers being in the store," Hannaford said. "According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), people who are 60 and over and those with compromised immune systems are most vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus." Price Chopper, Dollar General, and Stop & Shop stores have instituted similar policies. Read more about this story in the Times Union.
