C-GCC orders mandatory child abuse reporting

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail Columbia-Greene Community College adopted a policy mandating the reporting of any suspected child sexual abuse, Mon., Feb. 25, following the lead of the State University of New York Board of Trustees. The policy requires that any employee, student or volunteer at the college who witnesses or suspects the sexual abuse of a child on college property or during college-sponsored events has an obligation to report it to a campus security officer. The policy is similar to those already in place statewide for teachers, nurses, doctors and psychologists. The policy is a response to the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal at Penn State University in 2011. In that case several high-level university officials were accused of covering up or failing to report the assistant's coach's sexual abuse of children. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
