Jul 11, 2013 7:03 am
Jim Planck reports in The Daily Mail the U.S. Postal Service has finished its review of the Haines Falls Post Office. The Postal Service is downsizing nationwide as part of a cost-savings initiative called the POST Plan. An announcement was made last week the location will remain open, but its hours of operation will be cut instead. Beginning Aug. 10, the post office will be open 8 a.m. to noon, close for three hours, then reopen from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday hours will remain the same, from 8 a.m. until noon. Local residents have expressed strong support for the plan. The only other area post office currently under review is Freehold. A community meeting on that review will be held July 30. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
