Amazon opening delivery stations in Amsterdam, Colonie; now hiring

Eric Anderson is reporting for the Times Union Amazon, Mon., Aug. 17, announced it will open new delivery stations at 1785 State Highway 55 in Amsterdam and at 30B Post Road in Colonie. The Amsterdam station will support last-mile deliveries and, according to the company, could create hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs paying $15 an hour to start. It is scheduled to open in the fall. The Colonie AMXL station will handle larger, heavier products, such as TVs and sofas, and employ 50 people. It is expected to open this month. The multinational E-commerce company announced last week it is now hiring to fill 1,000 full-time jobs at its new $100 million fulfillment center in Schodack. Crossgates Mall has announced that Amazon's first area bricks-and-mortar store is expected to open on the upper level of the mall, on the level above the existing Apple retail store. It is the second 4-star store in New York state; the other is in Manhattan. Read the full story in the Times Union.
