Thomas Tracy is reporting for the New York Daily News Samantha Shader and her sister Darian Shader, both of Catskill, were arrested May 29, after police accused them of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a police van during the night-long protest in Brooklyn over the murder this week of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The four cops from the 71st Precinct inside the van managed to escape as the vehicle caught fire, authorities said. Samantha, 27, is charged with four counts of attempted murder, attempted arson, weapons possession and reckless endangerment for lobbing the lit bottle of alcohol at the van, which was parked near the Brooklyn Museum around 11:30 p.m. Friday. Darian, 21, was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. “It is by the grace of God that we don’t have dead officers today," NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a press conference the morning after. The Shader sisters were among the nearly 200 protesters arrested Friday night in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Read the full story in the Daily News.
