Johnson makes Volkmann Hudson Police Commissioner

Hudson Mayor-Elect Kamal Johnson announced his first round of appointments Dec. 6, adding current Chatham Police Chief Peter Volkmann as his Police Commissioner. Peter Bujanow will remain as Department of Public Works Commissioner, and Tracy Delaney stays as City Clerk. Johnson also picked community activist Michael Chameides as Mayor’s Aide, the role Don Moore is in now for current Hudson Mayor Rick Rector. “These appointments have the experience, vision, and commitment to help us achieve a more equitable city,” says Johnson. Volkmann has been Stockport Police Chief, and the Chatham Police Chief, and is known for his “Your Cop” program and the alternative to incarceration “Chatham Cares 4 U” program. “I look forward to working with the Hudson Police, the mayor, and all of Hudson to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents,” says Volkmann. Johnson is the first African-American elected mayor of Hudson, and is also a WGXC volunteer programmer.
