Here's the week in the news for Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook), the District 19 Congressperson for the WGXC listening area. Faso returned to Washington D.C. this week where Fivethirtyeight.com currently reports Faso votes with Donald Trump's positions 86.8 percent of his votes. Simone Pathé in Roll Call reported that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is running digital ads on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram against Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) about the Republican tax plan currently before Congress. While there are no Congressional hearings about the plan, more votes may come soon. Faso voted against the tax plan Nov. 16 after it was clear that it would pass the House of Representatives, and has generally spoken in favor of it, except for the elimination of exemptions for state and local taxes. In a fundraising post of his own to Facebook Faso wrote, "It’s a FACT that I voted against the tax reform bill because it took away state and local tax deductions. But Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are running dishonest negative ads on social media that don’t tell the truth. I need your help to fight back." Read the full story in in Roll Call.

The Mid-Hudson News Network reports in the Daily Freeman that three Hudson Valley-based Democratic House members called for a long-term ban on Hudson River anchorages on Nov. 27. Currently, the U.S. Coast Guard, which proposed the anchorages last year, is completing its Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment. “The safety process they are running is a good process, but I am concerned that it could result in a revised proposal that might still be problematic,” U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, Democrat of Cold Spring, said. “We are watching it very closely. We are keeping the coalition together and we are going to hold their feet to the fire to make sure that whatever they do in this area is properly focused on what is good for our communities and the real safety issues we have on the river.” In May, U.S. Rep. John Faso, Republican of Kinderhook, added an amendment to the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2017, to delay any new barge anchorage sites on the Hudson River for at least a year. The Coast Guard, facing opposition, eventually withdrew its anchorage proposal, but then started a new study last month. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.

Time magazine reports that the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bipartisan measure Nov. 29 requiring annual anti-harassment training for lawmakers and aides. The house took a voice vote, so there is no record of the vote of Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook). Faso did vote Nov. 29 with all Republicans against all Democrats to allow more mining in a Minnesota national park. He also voted for another bill to give a specific company, PolyMet Mining, access to a site to build Minnesota’s first-ever copper-nickel mine and nullify lawsuits filed by environmental groups to stop the land exchange. And Faso voted with all other representatives Nov. 29 to designate specified mountain peaks in the Uncompahgre National Forest in Colorado as "Fowler Peak" and "Boskoff Peak."

• On Nov. 30 Rep. John Faso voted with all but eight Republicans and all Democrats in favor of the Brownfields Enhancement, Economic Redevelopment, and Reauthorization Act. Faso also voted for the Ensuring a Qualified Civil Service Act, which 211 Republican votes and two Democratic votes for, and 18 Republicans and 186 Democrats against.

• Faso's only interviews this week were with partisan channels: Sinclair Broadcasting's "Connect To Congress" series (which airs on CBS 6 in Albany) and Fox Business News.

• On Nov. 30, Faso spoke on the House floor about the passing of former Rep. Maurice Hinchey.
