Phillip Pantuso reports for the Times Union that northbound lanes of the I-87 interstate highway will be closed for at least 12 hours on Saturday, Jan. 6, for construction work. The damaged Brookside Road overpass in New Paltz will be removed overnight. The overpass has been hit 27 times since 2019, and is now structurally unsound. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto local roads at exit 17 for 24 miles during the construction, and there should be large delays, and an increase in travel time.
