Olana launches skycam

May 12, 2020 1:00 pm
The Daily Freeman is reporting the Olana State Historic Site in Greenport, has launched the Olana Eye, a live skycam from artist Frederic Church's studio tower, in celebration of the painter's 194th birthday. The camera provides a view of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, the same view often painted by Church in the 19th century. For the first time, this view is available online to audiences around the world at all times and in all seasons. The view of the Hudson Valley from Olana is known for its spectacular sunrise and sunset colors, which change throughout the year. In 1869, Frederic Church referred to Olana as “the center of the world.” The skycam can be accessed at Olana [dot] org [slash] olanaeye. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
