Charles Schumer pledged his support of the future Lumberyard Contemporary Performing Arts facility. Phase one construction is set to begin in November. Schumer said, “This is the most exciting project I’ve seen. I’ve been to lumberyards and I’ve been to performances, but I’ve never been to both at the same time." Schumer said Lumberyard could be a great economic opportunity for Catskill and the rest of the region. “They have my complete support and I will work with them to get as many federal grants as they need,” he said. Modification of the former Dunn Building and Supply building, located on Water Street, along Catskill Creek, is expected to take eight months. Lumberyard began in 1999, as the American Dance Institute in Rockville, Maryland. In June 2016, it moved its headquarters to New York City. The performance and residency site in Catskill is expected to open in mid-2019. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
