Proposed Germantown ethics law has residents talking
Aug 09, 2019 12:36 am
Carmen Henriquez reports in the Columbia Paper that it was standing room only at a July 23 public hearing in Germantown about a proposed new ethics law. Henriquez writes that, "Many of the speakers commended the board for their efforts to put an ethics law in place," and quotes many speakers with less flattery. “This law terrifies me,” said Pamela Wallace. Speakers mentioned contradictions and omissions in the text, or just disagreed with parts. Tony Albino said, “We can all agree, clearly, this has serious flaws the way it stands now.” The proposal is on the Germantown website under the code of ethics. The next public hearing on the proposed law is at 6:30 p.m. August 13 before the regular Town Board meeting. Read more about this story in the Columbia Paper.
