Composer Richard Robbins dead at 71

The BBC is reporting Richard Robbins, the composer who scored such Merchant Ivory films as "A Room with a View," "Howards End"  and "The Remains of the Day," has died. He died Nov. 7, of Parkinson's disease at his home in Rhinebeck. He was 71. Robbins scored almost every film made by director James Ivory and producer Ismail Merchant from "The Europeans" in 1979 to "The White Countess" in 2005. He is survived by his longtime partner, composer and artist Michael Schell. Sounds Forms host Peter Wetzler interviewed Robbins in 2011 as part of the Conversations with Composers series.
