The Greenville Pioneer is reporting the new Capital Region Welcome Center has opened its doors in New Baltimore. The center is located on the New York State Thruway, across from the New Baltimore Service Area. The center features a historic Dutch-style building facade and provides a gateway into the Capital Region for northbound travelers. Currently, four million people visit the New Baltimore Service Area every year. The new center is accessible to Thruway traffic traveling northbound on I-87 taking the New Baltimore Service Area exit ramp. Northbound traffic will continue to have access to the existing service area on the other side of the highway. The new center includes a Taste NY Market showcasing the locally grown and sourced products from the region and throughout the state. "Greene County is proud to be the site of the Capital Region Welcome Center," said Kevin Lewis, chair of the Greene County Legislature. "The Welcome Center showcases the wonderful food, beverages and crafts this region has to offer, and I look forward to the success and economic opportunity it brings to our local producers and artisans." The new center is one of 11 similar travel hubs located statewide. Read the full story in the Greenville Pioneer.
