Blaze guts Love Apple Farm building in Ghent

Arthur Cusano is reporting in the Register Star a building at Love Apple Farm on Route 9H in Ghent was destroyed by fire, Wed., Nov. 20. Firefighters responded at 7:30 p.m. and continued to battle the blaze into the night. No one was in the building at the time of the fire. A family in a trailer located at the rear of the building was evacuated. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The farm stand closed for the day at 5 p.m. and co-owner Donald Golden reportedly left the building for home at 6:30 p.m. Golden said the business was scheduled to shut down for the season the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The farm was owned for more than 40 years by Chris and Randae Loken. It was sold to Golden and Francis Greenburger in September 2012. The farm offers fresh farm products and baked goods.
