Hudson council to vote on Stewart's agreement

Jun 18, 2019 12:30 pm
Amanda Purcell is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Common Council this week is expected to approve an agreement with Stewart’s Shops for intersection improvements at Green Street and Fairview Avenue. In May, Stewart’s received approval from the Hudson Planning Board to replace its existing building with a more than 3,500-square-foot structure and 1,500-square-foot fueling canopy. The proposal includes 12 parking spaces and four fueling stations with two pumps. To approve the project and a needed zoning amendment, Stewart’s agreed to a community-host benefit agreement with the city to make traffic improvements at the Green and Fairview intersection. According to a crude map drawn by project engineers, four crosswalks will be added to the intersection, plus an additional crosswalk on Fairview as well as a curb ramp on Route 9. Six pedestrian poles with push buttons and six pedestrian signals will also be added. The agreement will provide the city with funds to improve pedestrian access at the location, and provide for the retention of a planner for the review, mediation and implementation of an updated comprehensive plan or zoning code. Stewart’s hopes the new store will be open, and the intersection improvements completed by early fall. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
