So far, 34 people connected to White House, have infected by coronavirus. Steve Hughes reports for the Times Union that, in Coxsackie, 28 inmates in the Greene Correctional Facility have tested positive for the disease so far, Greene County Public Health officials announced on Oct. 7. Almost half of those cases, 13, were announced on Oct. 7. "These individuals were immediately isolated and a contact trace was conducted and those identified were quarantined and tested," said department spokesman Thomas Mailey in a statement. So far, 17 inmates and five staff members have died statewide because of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. And the coronavirus outbreak currently in Greene County is not limited to the prison. Lissa Harris of The River Newsroom reported that, "Greene County Public Health informs me that because they are at capacity for testing, they are currently only testing people who are symptomatic or have a known COVID-19-positive contact." In all, there have been 41 new positive cases in the county of about 47,000 residents in the past week. On Oct. 6 6.57 percent, or 13 out of 198 people, tested positive for COVID-19. There are 43 active cases in Greene County now. There were cases reported in the last week in the 6th grade at the Greenville school, and in the Greene County Office Building in Catskill.
